The approval by the Academic Board of Midlands State University of an additional semester to exclusively cater for 4:1 students who were on attachment has been welcomed with excitement by students.
Semester dates last year were disrupted by the March 2008 harmonized elections resulting in the university operating for only one semester instead of the usual two. This year the university has sought to remedy this by ‘chipping’ in an additional semester specifically for 4:1 returning students. Students have welcomed this move with mixed feelings. Tonderai, a marketing student said, “I am excited with the news because I will now complete my studies at the end of the year!” Some students are however cautious citing that they will be under pressure since the additional semester will be considerably short. The new semester will run from Monday, 15 June 2009 to Friday, 24 July 2009. Semester begins : Monday 15 June 2009 Examinations begin : Monday 20 July 2009 Examinations end : Friday 24 July 2009 |
