About Work Related Learning at MSU
Work Related Learning is the engagement of students to the real world of work or entrepreneurship. The department is currently manned by the Director, Senior Assistant Registrar and Chief Secretary.
Work Related Learning Requirements
To proceed for Work Related Learning, confirm your level 2.2 results for those doing four year programmes and level 3.2 results for those doing 5 year programmes. Students studying a four year programme go for work related learning in their 3rd year and those doing a 5 year programme go for work related learning in their 4th year.
Placement should be communicated to the Work Related Learning Office and the Work Related Learning Departmental Coordinator within 3 weeks of placement.
Duration of Work Related Learning
A minimum of 10 months
It is mandatory that students pass :
- Workplace Supervisor’s Assessment
- Academic supervisor’s Assessment
- Work Related Learning Report

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQS
Q- What should I do if I get Work Related Learning placement outside Zimbabwe?
A : Before engagement in a foreign country the student must fulfill the following:
- Have a valid passport
- Provide university with employment offer letter from the prospective employers.
- Submit parent/guardian’s commitment letter to pay additional levy.
- Pay additional Work Related Learning levy to facilitate supervision
Q- What should I do if I have problems with my employer/supervisor?
A : Do not rush to find a new job. Communicate nature of problem to Work Related Learning Office and Work Related Learning departmental Coordinator and continue working whilst the issue is being resolved.
Q- What happens if my contract expires before I am assessed?
A : Alert the Work Related Learning Office and the Work Related Learning departmental coordinators a month before expiry of contract.
