OBJECTIVES
- To prepare non-graduate trained teachers
to teach up to “A” Level.
- To produce manpower for tertiary institutional
training colleges.
- To produce manpower for education -
related fields such as Examination Councils, Curriculum
Development Unit, Education Consultants etc.
Bachelor
of Applied Education
Currently the department offers four programmes
viz:
Bachelor of Education in Mathematics
Bachelor of Education in Economics
Bachelor of Education in Accounting
Bachelor of Education in Fashion and Textiles
Other options will soon be introduced.
It is hoped that B.Ed courses for “A” level
school leavers without teaching experience will soon be
offered.
ADMISSION
REQUIREMENTS
To qualify
for admission, applicants must:
- Possess a teaching qualification approved
by the University.
- Have a minimum of two years post qualification
experience.
- Normally have “A” level passes in the
proposed teaching subject.
CAREER
PROSPECTS
Graduates from the Faculty of Education
can be employed in private or public institutions as teachers
or trainers, Curriculum Development Units, Examination Councils,
Publishing Houses or any education - related field.

The Department of Applied
Education carries out high-level research in education,
focusing on learning and instruction, and provides
education primarily for students who want to qualify
for teaching posts in comprehensive, upper secondary,
and secondary vocational schools.
