B.Sc HONOURS IN HOME ECONOMICS
The undergraduate
degrees offered in the Department of Home Economics are
as follows:
- Bachelor of Science
with Education Degree in Home Economics
This degree is designed for students who have acquired
a diploma in Home Economics education. The degree is of
a three year duration. Students enrolled into this programme
will follow the programme as outlined in the programme
structure. They should pursue a project in Home Economics
on a topic approved by the department which should be
passed separately. Students are also required to undertake
industrial attachment for a minimum duration of 3 months.
- Bachelor of Science
Degree in Home Economics
This degree is designed for students who have obtained
at least two "A" Level subject passes as stipulated
under entry requirements. The degree is of a four year
duration. Students are required to undertake industrial
attachment for a minimum period of 10 months in one academic
year in the third part of the programme.
- Bachelor of Science
Honours Degree in Home Economics
Students can opt for an honours degree at the discretion
of the department after satisfactory completion semester
1&2I of the Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics.
To qualify for enrolment in the Honours programme, a candidate
should have passed with a grade of 2.1 or better in at
least four Home Economics courses
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Normal Entry
To qualify for entry, candidates should
have passed English, Science and Mathematics at "O"
Level.
- Candidates should also have passed at
least 2 "A" level subjects in the areas of Home
Economics or Science to enroll for Bachelor of Science
Degrees in Home Economics.
- Candidates wishing to enroll in the
Bachelor of Home Economics with Education Programme should
have acquired a diploma in Home Economics Education.
- Candidates should also have minimum
of two years post qualification experience. "A"
level passes in the relevant subject areas is an added
advantage.
