Circulation
Books may be borrowed and returned at the circulation desk. To
borrow library materials you must provide your valid Midlands State
University staff or student ID card. To know more about adimission,
borrowing privileges, overdue fines and other regulations governing
the lending of library materials please read the Circulation Policies
.
Course Reserves
Material in high demand is placed on reserve usually at the recommendation
of lecturers. Reserve items may be borrowed for 2 hrs during the
day or overnight starting from 3pm. You must state the LC
call number and title when requesting a reserve item. You
may consult the Online Catalogue to get this information. You must be a registered
library borrower to obtain material from this collection.
Inter Library Loan (ILL )
The Inter Library Loan service will obtain books and other material
not owned by MSU Library. This service is offered to faculty and
staff only. To order ILL material, please contact the Acquisitions
Librarian. An online form will soon be offered.
Reference and information
Library Staff, a key resource themselves, are readily available
to help you find the information you need. In addition, the library
maintains a collection of ready reference sources. Ready reference
sources include encyclopaedias,
dictionaries, guides, atlases, directories, etc. Items from this
collection may not be taken out of the library.
Special collections This collection consists of material in designated areas, which
require special custodial care. Inquiries can be directed to the
Special Collections Librarian.
Past Examination Papers
The library maintains a collection of Midlands State University
past examination papers,both in print and electronic format. Printed past examination papers are available from the Reserve and electronic copies can be accessed by users on campus only. Click here for past examination papers online.
Computers in the library
The library provides a number of public access workstations. Use
of Library computers is restricted to Internet access and other
library related research. For word processing and other computing
services, users are advised to make use of the University Computer
Laboratory. Use of the library computers is regulated by the
Internet and computer use policy.
Photocopying
A Photocopying kiosk is located in the Library's northern end.
This Kiosk is run by a private contractor and charges a fee for
their service. The service is available at the following times
Midweek 9:00 am - 10:00 pm
Saturday 9:00 am - 11:50 am

Book Purchase Suggestions
The Acquisitions Librarian welcomes
suggestions on any titles the library may acquire to improve its
collection. Users can fill in a Book Suggestion Form and forward
their suggestions.
New books are displayed, as they become available. See also New
