Midlands State University’s representatives to the SIFE Zimbabwe BOOST Fellowship challenge clinched second spot at the National Universities competitions held at the Celebration Centre in Harare on Friday 6 June, 2012.
After being drawn in League One in the preliminaries of the competition, alongside Africa University (AU), the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), the five member SIFE-MSU team delivered a scintillating presentation that saw the team sail through to the final round, earning a standing ovation from the capacity crowd that thronged the Centre’s Jubilee Hall.
In the finals SIFE-MSU were joined by SIFE teams from Chinhoyi University of Technology, the University of Zimbabwe and eventual winners, Catholic University. The finals proved to be a closely fought affair with the four finalist teams delivering polished presentations that left the audience on edge as they waited for the final results.
At the end of the day, it was the SIFE-Catholic University and SIFE-MSU teams that impressed the judges with the team from Catholic University emerging overall winners, leaving the SIFE-MSU team in second place for the second consecutive year. For their efforts, the MSU team walked away with a trophy, a certificate and an over head projector. The 38 members that comprise the MSU BOOST- SIFE club were also honoured with certificates of recognition for their unwavering contribution to SIFE activities.
