Faced with the national obligation to empower Zimbabwe\u2019s indigenous languages and the increase in demand for language services, the Midlands State University identified and implemented a range of responses to these new needs. The establishment of a Language Institute at MSU is one kind of such a response to these critical linguistic needs and services.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Stakeholders, both national and international, need language services, hence, the Institute has a duty to provide an appropriate response to these demands. In my view, the Language Institute has potential to grow into a world-class centre of excellence in language research and other linguistic services such as short courses in language teaching, thesis and dissertation editing, foreign language teaching, communication skills, translation and interpretation services supported by techno-scientific resources. The Institute must, therefore, make scientific contributions to the development of research in indigenous languages and enhance language consultancy services in Zimbabwe, Africa and beyond.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As we strive to make the Institute a world-renowned language centre synonymous with language excellence, we intend to continue upholding quality standards and excellent work ethics. Our achievements in the short time we have been in existence, both locally and regionally since the inception of the Institute, speak volumes of our potential and our vision.\u00a0<\/p>\n
