Mr. M. K. Mafa – Executive Dean – Students Affairs
It is my distinct honour to welcome you to the Office of the Executive Dean of Students at Midlands State University, a leading institution that stands at the forefront of innovation, heritage-based education, and global engagement. At MSU, we believe that the university experience extends far beyond the classroom. It is here, in the vibrant spaces of student life, that the principles of Education 5.0 teaching, research, community service, innovation, and industrialisation are lived, tested, and transformed into practice.
In alignment with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, our Division is committed to producing not only graduates with intellectual competence, but also holistic, globally conscious citizens who can contribute to the modernisation and industrialisation of our economy, while engaging critically with the challenges of the world. Our task is to nurture resilient, ethical, and entrepreneurial leaders who embody the values of unity, innovation, and social responsibility.
The Division of Student Affairs is the home of this transformative agenda. It is through our departments that we strive to support, empower, and inspire every student who joins our community:
- Catering Services provide nutritious, affordable, and culturally diverse meals that sustain healthy living and celebrate Zimbabwe’s rich food heritage.
- Counselling Services offer psychosocial support, mentorship, and resilience-building programmes, recognising that student well-being is the foundation of academic excellence.
- Chaplaincy serves the spiritual and moral needs of our students, fostering an environment of interfaith harmony, ethical integrity, and volunteerism.
- The Student Development Office equips students with leadership, civic education, and entrepreneurial skills, ensuring that MSU graduates are not only job-seekers but job-creators and innovators.
- Sports and Recreation cultivate teamwork, discipline, and excellence, nurturing talent that competes regionally and internationally while promoting healthy lifestyles.
- Health Services ensure that students have access to quality medical care, preventive health programmes, and wellness education.
- The Student Representative Council (SRC) is the democratic voice of our students, a training ground for the leaders of tomorrow, and a platform for meaningful engagement between the university administration and the student body.
- The Disability Resource Centre champions inclusivity, accessibility, and empowerment, ensuring that no student is left behind in their pursuit of knowledge and personal growth.
Together, these departments form a dynamic ecosystem of support and opportunity, reflecting our conviction that student affairs is not a peripheral service but the human face of Education 5.0. It is here that academic knowledge meets character development, cultural consciousness, and national identity.
As Executive Dean, I invite you to see MSU not only as a place of study, but as a living laboratory of ideas, cultures, and innovations. Here, you will be challenged to grow intellectually, inspired to lead ethically, and empowered to serve with courage in Zimbabwe, in Africa, and the world.
Welcome to the Division of Student Affairs, where we mould minds, shape character, and build futures.
